These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between L, operating under the TextLantern brand (“TextLantern,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), and the person or organization using the TextLantern Discord application, website, Discord Activity, one-time trial, or one-time translation pack (“you” or “your”). They describe the translation service, its prepaid character balance, and its limits.
In short: an authorized server administrator enables selected text channels; TextLantern processes new Discord Message Content transiently to return machine translations; paid packs are bought once; each successful target-language result deducts characters under the rules below; purchased characters never expire and repeat purchases stack.
1. Acceptance and related terms
You accept these Terms when you install or authorize the TextLantern Bot, use the website or Discord Activity, claim the trial, click a checkout button, complete a Waffo Pancake transaction, or otherwise use the Service. If you act for a company, community, or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind it; that organization is responsible for its use of the Service.
The Privacy Policy explains data processing. The Refund Policy explains refunds, translation reversals, and chargebacks. A Waffo Pancake receipt, order page, or checkout screen may contain additional product, price, tax, seller, or pack information. Mandatory law controls where it cannot be waived. For the Waffo Pancake transaction itself, Waffo Pancake’s Buyer Terms and Refund Policy may also apply.
Discord is not a party to these Terms and does not sponsor or endorse TextLantern. Your use of Discord remains subject to Discord’s Terms of Service, Developer Terms, Developer Policy, and other applicable Discord policies.
2. Service scope
TextLantern provides text translation for configured Discord server channels. An administrator can select two primary languages and additional supported languages within the configuration shown by the Service. A message that matches a primary language may receive an automatic translation to the other primary language; a user can request another configured language through the available Discord interaction.
TextLantern uses Discord Message Content only as needed to translate and reply.
The Service is designed for new messages in enabled server text channels. If the text of a message already being handled is edited, its translation may be updated while the channel remains enabled. Voice, OCR, attachments as translation input, direct messages, and historical-message scanning are not included.
A translation may be retained briefly to avoid duplicate processing, but TextLantern does not create a permanent translation archive. Reprocessing the same requested translation does not deduct characters twice.
Machine translation can be inaccurate, incomplete, offensive, or unsuitable for context. Do not rely on a translation as legal, medical, financial, safety, or emergency advice.
Features, supported languages, limits, and availability may vary by plan, server, region, Discord permissions, provider availability, and rollout stage. If a paid feature is not offered to your server or is not shown in checkout, these Terms do not create a charge for it.
3. Discord requirements
You must use TextLantern in a way that complies with Discord’s current terms and developer policies. You must not use the Bot or API integration to bypass Discord’s privacy, safety, security, age, rate, monetization, or review controls. Discord may require a paid Discord feature to be offered through its own products or impose other conditions on monetized applications; if those requirements change, we may change, limit, or suspend the Service.
The server administrator must clearly authorize the Bot, select the channels and languages, and respect member rights and expectations. Users can remove the Bot or disable a configured channel through the available controls. TextLantern does not request Discord passwords, login tokens, or other credentials.
We may display or send only messages and notices relevant to operating, supporting, or securing TextLantern. We do not use Discord API Data for advertising profiles, sell or license Discord API Data, scrape Discord, or use Discord Message Content to train machine-learning or AI models.
4. Eligibility and authority
You must meet the minimum age and other eligibility requirements that apply to Discord and to the law where you use the Service. You must not use the Service if applicable law or sanctions prohibit you from receiving it. We may ask for accurate account, organization, server, or billing information and may suspend an account that is materially inaccurate or used without authority.
Only a person with the required Discord Manage Server permission, or another person whom the server owner has authorized, may configure a server, start a trial, or purchase a translation pack for it. You are responsible for the activity of your Discord account, the server, other administrators, and anyone who receives translations through the configured channel.
5. Trial, one-time packs, and usage
5.1 Waffo Pancake checkout and one-time purchase
Where paid access is offered, TextLantern translation packs are one-time purchases of a prepaid number of characters. A completed order does not create any further charge. Waffo Pancake may be identified in the checkout record as the Merchant of Record or authorized reseller. The order page or receipt shows the applicable pack, price, currency, tax, and seller information. Waffo Pancake handles payment credentials and its own transaction, tax, refund, and chargeback processes; TextLantern receives the identifiers and status events needed to grant, adjust, or remove the corresponding character balance. A displayed preview or simulated checkout does not make a pack available for live purchase or charge a card.
The standard package preview is: Trial — free for 300 characters and 1 server; Starter — US$8.99 for 250,000 characters and 1 server; Community — US$17.99 for 500,000 characters and 3 servers; and Growth — US$35.99 for 1,200,000 characters and 6 servers. The verified live order page, if and when a pack is offered, controls availability, promotions, taxes, and the transaction record.
5.2 One-time free trial
Where the Service offers it, an eligible Discord account may receive a one-time free trial of 300 characters. Personal translations and translations in servers bound to that account share the same trial balance. Trial eligibility is limited to one grant per Discord account and may be restricted to prevent abuse. The trial is not cash, cannot be transferred, does not convert into a paid purchase, and does not charge you.
5.3 Character balance and stacking
A purchased pack grants characters to the Discord user account identified in the order metadata. Personal translations and translations in servers bound to that account use the same balance. Repeat purchases are added to the existing account balance and do not replace it. Characters do not expire. They are not cash and are not transferable or resellable unless we expressly allow it.
5.4 How characters are counted
Each successfully generated target-language result deducts the source message’s Unicode code-point count as characters. Target languages are counted separately: a source message with 501 Unicode code points deducts 501 characters for each successfully generated target language. The Service does not round character counts into 500-character blocks and may reject or limit inputs outside the supported Discord limits.
The Service may retain a translation briefly to avoid duplicate processing. It does not create a permanent translation archive. Cached, failed, and retried translations deduct 0 characters, and reprocessing the same requested translation does not deduct characters twice. The Service’s usage record is authoritative for the transaction and balance.
5.5 Exhaustion and no overage
When the available character balance is exhausted, TextLantern may stop or refuse further translation until another pack is purchased or another eligible trial is available. The Service does not permit overage translation or additional usage charges. No unused-character reset or expiry applies to a valid purchased balance.
5.6 Refunds, reversals, and chargebacks
Prepaid characters are normally non-refundable after they are delivered or used, subject to the exceptions and mandatory rights in the Refund Policy, Waffo Pancake’s applicable Buyer Terms and Refund Policy, and applicable law. An approved refund or confirmed chargeback removes the corresponding purchased characters from the identified balance; if characters from that purchase were already used, the refundable amount is limited by the used portion and the applicable law or processor policy.
6. Content, output, and privacy
You retain whatever rights you have in Discord messages that you submit or authorize for translation. You grant TextLantern and its providers a limited, non-exclusive permission to receive, transform, transmit, retain briefly, and return that content only as needed to provide, secure, troubleshoot, and support the Service. We do not claim ownership of your message content or use it to train a TextLantern or third-party AI model.
You are responsible for having the rights and permissions needed to submit content and for giving server members any notice required by law. Translated output is generated by a machine-learning system and may be similar to output generated for another user. You are responsible for reviewing output and for any decision made from it. Discord may store or display the source message and the TextLantern response under Discord’s own service.

7. Acceptable use
You must not, and must not allow another person to:
use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, harassing, dangerous, deceptive, or discriminatory activity, or to violate another person’s privacy, intellectual-property, publicity, or other rights;
submit passwords, payment-card numbers, government identifiers, health information, or other highly sensitive information intentionally for translation;
use the Service to bypass Discord limits, safety controls, age restrictions, App Review, monetization requirements, or account security;
scrape Discord, extract credentials, reverse engineer the Service, probe or defeat security controls, overload infrastructure, or interfere with another user’s access;
resell, lease, sublicense, share credentials, or use the Service to build a substantially similar competing service without permission; or
use translated output as a substitute for qualified legal, medical, financial, safety, or emergency advice.
If you discover content or conduct that violates these Terms or Discord’s policies, contact support@textlantern.com with enough information for us to investigate. Do not send passwords, tokens, or full payment details.
8. Availability, changes, and suspension
We provide the Service on a reasonable-efforts basis. Discord, Cloudflare, third-party translation providers, Waffo Pancake, the internet, and other dependencies can fail or change. We do not promise uninterrupted access, a particular translation quality, a particular response time, or an uptime level unless a written service-level term expressly says otherwise.
We may add, remove, limit, or change a feature, supported language, provider, plan, or quota. We may suspend or terminate access if a payment is reversed, a refund or chargeback is being investigated, a server or user violates these Terms or a provider policy, Discord restricts the integration, continuing to provide the Service creates legal or security risk, or the Service is discontinued. Where practical and legally allowed, we will provide notice and an opportunity to correct a breach. We may act without advance notice when needed to prevent harm, fraud, or a security incident.
You may stop using the Service, remove the Bot, or disable channels. Ending access does not restore characters already deducted or remove records that we may lawfully retain; any unused valid purchased characters remain governed by the applicable order and these Terms.
9. Disclaimers and liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim warranties that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, accurate, fit for a particular purpose, or suitable for every message or use. Nothing here excludes a warranty, remedy, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including mandatory consumer rights, fraud, willful misconduct, or liability that applicable law requires us to accept.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TextLantern will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss, loss of profits or goodwill, loss caused by Discord or another provider, or decisions made from machine translation. To the maximum extent permitted by law, TextLantern’s aggregate liability for a claim relating to a paid server is limited to the amount paid for the affected pack or transaction. This limit does not reduce non-waivable rights or liabilities.
To the extent permitted by law, you will reimburse TextLantern for reasonable losses, claims, and costs caused by your material breach of these Terms, your unlawful use, or your failure to obtain the permissions required to submit content. This paragraph does not apply where such an allocation is prohibited or would remove a mandatory consumer remedy.
10. Governing law and contact
These Terms and the relationship between you and TextLantern are governed by applicable law. Any dispute will be handled by a court or forum with jurisdiction under applicable law. This clause does not take away any non-waivable right to bring a claim in another forum or under another law.
