Website language and translation language are different
The language menu on this website changes the guide you are reading. It does not choose the output language for a Discord translation. Choose that language in the personal translation controls or in the channel settings, depending on the task.
For personal translation
Choose the language you want to read or write in the translation controls. The result stays private until you choose to copy and share it.

For a server channel
Choose two main languages. With channel translation enabled, TextLantern translates a message into the other main language when it recognizes the source as one of the pair. If there is not enough language information, a translation may not appear automatically.
Add other languages from the list if members need them. In the reply settings, choose whether these translations are requested or generated automatically. Also choose where they appear; private results are available on request, not automatically.
For example, a channel can use English and Japanese as its main pair, with Spanish available on request.

Check the wording before sharing
A supported language does not mean every translation is equally accurate. Short messages, jokes, names, and mixed-language text may need review. For important wording, check the result before sending it.
